Looking At Attractive Women

Scientists have found that looking at photos of attractive women has negative effects on men.

It was already known for some time that women get self-conscious and worried about their body when they see too many images of sexy female models. But now, studies have shown that men also gets worried when they look at scantily clad women like Megan Fox and Scarlett Johansson .

A group of men was asked to spend time looking at magazines such as FHM and Maxim, and then the scientists monitored how the males viewed their body and how self conscious they were.

Jennifer Aubrey, assistant professor of communication at the University of Missouri, said they found that reading lad magazines was related to having body self-consciousness. And that men who viewed the layouts of the objectified women reported more body self-consciousness.

It was speculated that seeing objectified women increased self-consciousness due to men being reminded that to be sexually or romantically involved with a woman of similar attractiveness, they need to have the same strict appearance standards.

Being one of your loyal male readers here I will comment that the study is right in my opinion.One does feel that they must have the same standards to attract such beautiful women.

@Steven,
I was really surprised to find out that men also feel self-conscious about their attractiveness. Maybe we should all boycott reading FHM and Maxim! I don't think those mags do us any good. They just want us to feel insecure and it is full of ads! They only want us to buy expensive branded make ups and clothes. Even if we buy the products they endorse, we still look the same! Lolz!

Thanks for your opinion Steven.

Really? A Negative Effect?

... Yeah, like I read in someone's Forum Signature once ... "A HARD ON doesn't count as a personal growth". I guess it doesn't really count as one. :)

But I'll keep on looking at them anyway. :)

That's interesting. I've always thought that most males have a distorted image of themselves, always thinking that they're much better looking than they actually are.

I guess looking at real beauty brings them back down to earth a bit!
