Dominican Migrants Lost At Sea Ate Human Flesh

Dominican Republic migrants were rescued after being lost at sea for 15 days. They admitted that they ate human flesh of their comrades who died to survive.

From the 33 Dominican Republic migrants who were trying to reach Puerto Rico, only five person were rescued, but the one and only female in the group died in the hospital. They were found near the Turks and Caicos Islands, said Dominican Republic Tourism Minister Francisco Javier Garcia.

Garcia said the remaining four people, who were part of the group, told him that they ate from the corpse of the last person who expired.

The group were reported missing by relatives in mid-October. The Survivors said they lost their way after the captain of the ship abandoned them.

It was said that the bodies of the other dead were thrown into the sea.

The five migrants, who were presumed dead by their relatives, were rescued by US Coast Guard helicopter on Monday and was taken to a hospital on the island of Providenciales.

Each year, hundreds of Dominicans take to the sea in small boats, many of them are homemade only. They try to reach Puerto Rico through the dangerous Mona Passage.

In 2004, 36 survivors in a group of 87 migrants Dominicans drank breast milk, sea water and also ate human flesh in a desperate bid to survive.

Ay, mami, say it ain't so! :O

But in that situation, you really cannot say you wouldn't do the same. People will do anything to survive.

That is so true Diva. The Dominican migrants who survived ate the people who died last. So when the last person was dying, he already knew that he will be eaten after he expire? I wonder which part of the body they ate first...

And if the person who died was muscular, the survivors would have a hard time biting the flesh?

If we are at sea and nothing to eat, I will have a hard time eating you Ms. Diva, because you have a firm body... hahaha just kidding.

Maybe you can eat me because I have so much fat and meat hahahahah!
