The fatty sheath which coats the the nerve cells acts as an insulation and it allows rapid bursts of signals around the brain and body. But at age 40, the body loses the battle to repair the protective sheaths.
Prof George Bartzokis of the University of California said that it may be the reason why even the fittest athletes retire and all older people move slower.

stress can cause that process to occur more rapidly! The telomeres cannot repair and become frayed and damaged.
So, keep fit and take time for stress relief. As a woman way past 40, I think I am glad you posted this?
:)
@Deb,
I am only 35 now but I move so slow. Maybe it is due to stress also. Hehehe!
You do not look like you are in your 40s. You look beautiful and you do not have wrinkles on your face.
thank you, especially as I am in my 50's!
@Deb,
No way!!! You are kidding, right?! You look so young!!!
Being 39-years-old, this depresses the hell out of me. Oh no!

@Hawg,
Lolz! You are funny!
Well, that's just SAD! Jeez!
What do we get to look forward to with aging? It just seems that everything good that we have just goes right down the toilet! :(
@diva
We really could not stop aging, unless we could find the fountain of youth, i.e., if there is any.
